When you add tickets to your Payment Page, everyone who buys one gets a QR code ticket by email. As the Organizer, you can scan those tickets using the SignUpGenius mobile app for seamless check-in.
Scan tickets using the mobile app
You can accept tickets in the iOS or Android app two ways:
- Scanning the QR code ticket
- Entering the ticket number manually
As the Organizer, follow these steps to scan tickets:
- Log into the SignUpGenius mobile app.
- Select the Payment Page you want to scan tickets for.
- Tap the teal Scan Tickets button.
- If prompted, allow the app to access your camera. This is required to scan tickets.
- Hold your device's camera above the QR code on the Participant's ticket. If you run into trouble scanning a code, tap the manual check-in button to enter the ticket number instead.
- Once scanned, you'll see a "Done!" screen. From there, scan your next ticket or exit scanning.
Allow volunteers to scan tickets with an Event Code
An Event Code is a special code the Organizer can create for a specific Payment Page. It lets volunteers scan tickets (and accept point-of-sale payments) without needing the Organizer's login credentials.
View this article to learn how to create and manage an Event Code. To scan tickets using an Event Code, volunteers should:
- Download the latest version of the SignUpGenius mobile app: iOS or Android.
- Enter the Event Code.
- Follow steps 5-6 above.
Understand possible ticket scanning errors
Sometimes a scan won't produce the expected "Done!" screen. Here's what could be going on:
- The QR code ticket has already been redeemed. The redemption date will show on the error screen.
- The QR code ticket has been revoked and/or refunded.
- The QR code ticket is unrecognized, which usually means it's not from the SignUpGenius ticketing platform.
In any of these cases, the Participant likely doesn't have a valid ticket. Ask them to check their inbox for a more recent QR code ticket, or reach out to whoever purchased their ticket for more information.
